Grapple Guru's Grand Rapids Report

September 22nd, 2023 - Van Andel Arena, Grand Rapids, Michigan

In front of a lively crowd of 3806, All Elite Wrestling brought the heat to the Motor City with a stacked card that left fans on the edge of their seats. As I navigated the sold-out arena, the electric atmosphere was palpable, and it was clear this was going to be a night to remember.

TNT Title Three-Way Mayhem Christian Cage kicked things off by capturing the AEW TNT Title in a thrilling three-way match against Darby Allin and Luchasaurus. The high-flying action was non-stop, with each competitor putting their unique spin on the contest. In the end, Christian's cunning and agility proved too much for his opponents, as he secured the pin and the coveted gold.

Tag Team Tussle Hook and Rob Van Dam teamed up to take down Angelo Parker and Matt Menard in a fast-paced tag team match. The chemistry between the veteran duo was undeniable, with Hook's high-energy moveset complemented perfectly by RVD's power and experience. The clock ticked off at 8:23 as they emerged victorious.

Singles Showdown Julia Hart made a statement in her singles match against Kiera Hogan, dominating their bout with a convincing 3:35 submission victory. This young talent continues to impress, showcasing her technical prowess and athleticism.

Sole Searching Andrade El Idolo faced off against Jay White in a hard-hitting affair that left both competitors battered and bruised. In the end, it was White who emerged victorious, capitalizing on his opponent's momentary lapse of judgment to secure the win at 16:27.

Tag Team Title Turmoil FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood) successfully defended their AEW World Tag Team Titles against The WorkHorsemen (Anthony Henry and JD Drake), winning in just 4:40. This well-oiled machine continues to prove why they're one of the top tag teams in the industry.

Death Match Drama The main event saw Bryan Danielson face off against Ricky Starks in a Texas Death Match, with both competitors leaving it all on the line. The action was brutal and unrelenting, with both men trading blows and taking an unfathomable amount of punishment. In the end, Danielson's experience and cunning proved too much for Starks, as he secured the pin at 20:10.

All in all, this was a phenomenal card from AEW that showcased the promotion's incredible depth and diversity. With a mix of high-flying action, technical grappling, and brutal brawling, there was something for everyone in Grand Rapids. As I left the Van Andel Arena, I couldn't help but feel excited for what the future holds for this talented roster. A+ performance from All Elite Wrestling!
