Vic Marks' Wrestling Report

May 8th, 2023 - Bon Secours Wellness Arena, Greenville, South Carolina, USA

The packed house at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena was electric as All Elite Wrestling presented a thrilling card that showcased some of the best in the business. Tonight's event went live on TV, and I'm here to give you all the juicy details.

Match 1: AEW World Tag Team Title - FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood) vs. Big Bill and Brian Cage

In the opening bout, FTR looked to add another chapter to their impressive tag team reign. The champions, Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood, dominated Big Bill and Brian Cage from start to finish. A devastating top-rope cutter from Cash sealed the deal for FTR, who retained their titles in a strong 15:03 match.

Match 2: AEW TBS Title - Kris Statlander vs. Mercedes Martinez

The Women's Division took center stage next as Kris Statlander put her AEW TBS title on the line against challenger Mercedes Martinez. Statlander's quickness and agility proved too much for Martinez, who struggled to mount a meaningful offense. In the end, it was all about Statlander's speed, allowing her to snatch victory in 10:14.

Match 3: Non-Title - Samoa Joe vs. Serpentico

In a brief but brutal encounter, Samoa Joe made quick work of Serpentico, finishing him off with a thunderous Muscle Buster mere seconds into the match (00:14). The Samoan Submission Machine is always a force to be reckoned with.

Match 4: AEW World Trios Title Open House - The House Of Black (Brody King, Buddy Matthews, and Malakai Black) vs. Action Andretti, Darius Martin, and Lee Johnson

In a chaotic tag team match, The House Of Black put their AEW World Trios titles on the line against a makeshift trio of Action Andretti, Darius Martin, and Lee Johnson. Despite valiant efforts from the underdogs, The House Of Black's cohesion and power proved too much to handle, securing victory in 9:08.

Match 5: Singles - Jay White vs. Metalik

In a brief but competitive bout, Jay White edged out Metalik with a decisive pinfall (5:11). It was all about White's quickness and experience as he navigated the youngster's offense.

Main Event: AEW World Title - CM Punk vs. Ricky Starks

And finally, we had the main event of the evening as CM Punk faced off against AEW World Champion Ricky Starks. The two combatants put on a show for the ages, with each man trading near-falls and displaying their technical prowess. In the end, Punk's experience told, as he managed to overcome Starks' valiant efforts to secure victory in 22:19.
