AEW's January Jamboree: A Night of Thrills in Southaven
It was a chilly winter evening in Southaven, Mississippi, but the energy inside the Landers Center was electric as All Elite Wrestling brought its brand of high-octane action to the masses. The broadcast went out live on January 8th, and yours truly was there to take it all in.
Tag Team Tussle The night kicked off with a bang as Adam Page and Kenny Omega took on Private Party (Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen) in a tag team match that set the tone for the rest of the evening. This one had all the makings of a barnburner, folks – lightning-quick exchanges, hard-hitting moves, and a dash of showmanship from Omega. In the end, it was Page who sealed the deal with a devastating Calf Killer to secure the win (12:26). A solid opener that got the crowd in the mood for more.
Riho Reigns Supreme Next up, we had the main event of the women's division – Riho putting her AEW Women's World Title on the line against Kris Statlander. This one was a real showstopper, with both ladies giving it their all and leaving everything in the ring. In the end, Riho proved why she's the champ, using her patented Flying Kiwi to send Statlander crashing to the mat (9:23). A fantastic match that showcased the best of women's wrestling.
Guevara Gets His Sammy Guevara made his case for a title shot with a dominant win over Christopher Daniels in a singles match. The young star from Los Angeles showed off his impressive moveset, culminating in a vicious 450 Splash to put Daniels away (5:50). A strong performance that cements Guevara's status as one to watch.
Brotherhood Battles Lucha Brothers The Brotherhood – Cody and Dustin Rhodes – took on The Lucha Brothers (Pentagon Jr. and Rey Fenix) in a thrilling tag team match. This one was all about the high-flying action, with both teams trading near-falls and showcasing their aerial prowess. In the end, it was Cody who got the pin, using his Cross Rhodes to put Pentagon away (10:16). A fantastic match that had the crowd on its feet.
Jurassic Express Unleashes Chaos The main event saw The Jurassic Express (Jungle Boy, Luchasaurus, and Marko Stunt) take on The Best Friends (Chuck Taylor and Trent Beretta) and Orange Cassidy in a six-man tag team match. This one was absolute pandemonium – chairs, tables, and bodies flying everywhere as the teams clashed in a wild free-for-all. In the end, it was Jungle Boy who got the pin, using his top-rope elbow drop to seal the win (10:42). A fantastic finish to an already electric show.
Final Thoughts All in all, this was an excellent card from AEW – action-packed, well-wrestled, and with a great mix of styles and personalities. The crowd was hot throughout, and even though the attendance wasn't massive at 3100, the energy inside the Landers Center was palpable. If you missed it, don't worry – Zohash.com has got your back.
