A Thrilling Night of Action at the Schottenstein Center: All Elite Wrestling's August 3rd Show Review

By Michael Cox, ZohaSh.com Sports Journalist

Last night, the Schottenstein Center in Columbus, Ohio played host to an electric evening of professional wrestling as All Elite Wrestling (AEW) brought their brand of high-flying action and drama to the Buckeye State. The sold-out crowd of 5,300 was treated to a star-studded lineup that featured some of the best talent in the world.

The night kicked off with a singles match between Jay Lethal and Orange Cassidy. While Cassidy's unorthodox style kept him competitive for stretches, Lethal ultimately emerged victorious, securing the win via pinfall at 12:18. This was a great way to get the crowd going, as both men worked hard and gave it their all.

Next up was a tag team match pitting Dr. Britt Baker DMD and Jamie Hayter against ThunderStorm (Thunder Rosa and Toni Storm). This one was a real barnburner, with all four competitors giving it their all. In the end, Baker and Hayter's teamwork paid off, as they emerged victorious at 12:02.

The first half of the show came to a close with Powerhouse Hobbs taking on Ren Jones in a singles match. This one was a quick and brutal affair, with Hobbs dominating Jones en route to a decisive victory at just 53 seconds.

Following intermission, Christian Cage stepped into the ring to face Matt Hardy. This one had all the makings of a classic, as both men traded holds and moves in an exciting back-and-forth contest. In the end, it was Cage's cunning and experience that proved too much for Hardy, with the winner emerging at 11:06.

The main event of the evening featured The Acclaimed (Anthony Bowens and Max Caster) taking on The Gunn Club (Austin Gunn and Colten Gunn) in a Dumpster Tag Team Match. This one was all about high-flying action and chaos, as both teams worked together to take down their opponents. In the end, The Acclaimed's teamwork paid off, with the winners emerging victorious at 8:07.

But the real main event of the evening was the AEW Interim World Title #1 Contendership Match between Chris Jericho and Wheeler Yuta. This one was a real David vs. Goliath showdown, as the young upstart Yuta took on the veteran Jericho in an effort to earn his shot at the interim title. In the end, it was Jericho's experience and cunning that proved too much for Yuta, with the winner emerging at 12:33.

Overall, this was a fantastic show from start to finish. AEW continues to bring their A-game to every event, and last night was no exception. If you missed it, do yourself a favor and track it down on tape - you won't regret it.
