The Wrestling Wire: AEW's Pittsburgh Pummeling
October 1st, 2024, was a night to remember at the Petersen Events Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. All Elite Wrestling brought the heat with a stacked card that featured some of the best talent in the industry. I'm here to break down the action and give you the lowdown on what went down.
Match 1: Will Ospreay vs. Ricochet - AEW All-Atlantic Title Match (17:37)
The main event of the evening kicked off with a thriller between two aerial masters, Will Ospreay and Ricochet. These guys are known for their high-flying antics, and this match did not disappoint. The action was non-stop, with both men trading moves and near falls galore. Unfortunately, just as it seemed like we were headed for a winner, the bout ended in chaos when both competitors crashed to the mat after a series of insane aerial attacks. No contest? More like no finish! This rivalry is far from over.
Match 2: Adam Page vs. Juice Robinson (10:08)
The first singles match of the night pitted Adam Page against Juice Robinson. These two have a history, and it showed in this hard-hitting affair. Page's technical grappling skills were put to the test by Robinson's aggressive offense, but in the end, the Dark Order leader's superior ring generalship gave him the edge he needed to secure the win.
Match 3: Dr. Britt Baker DMD vs. Serena Deeb (11:37)
In a battle of female wrestling supremacy, Dr. Britt Baker DMD clashed with Serena Deeb. These two women know how to bring it, and this match was no exception. Baker's technical prowess and Deeb's power were evenly matched, but in the end, the AEW Women's World Champion's cunning and experience proved too much for her opponent.
Match 4: Private Party (Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen) vs. Iron Savages (Beefcake Boulder and Bulk Bronson) - Tag Team Match (1:05)
The fourth bout of the night featured a pair of tag teams, each with their own unique brand of chaos. Private Party's high-flying antics were matched by Iron Savages' brute force, but in the end, the experience and teamwork of Kassidy and Quen gave them the edge they needed to take home the win.
Main Event: Bryan Danielson vs. Kazuchika Okada - AEW World Title Match (31:39)
And then there was the main event. Oh boy, did we get a show. The AEW World Champion, Bryan Danielson, put his title on the line against one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time, Kazuchika Okada. This match was everything and more - a true masterpiece of storytelling, athleticism, and drama. These two legends went toe-to-toe in an epic battle that left everyone in attendance breathless. In the end, Danielson emerged victorious, but it's clear that this rivalry is far from over.
That's all for now from Pittsburgh. AEW continues to deliver top-notch action week in and week out. If you missed this show, do yourself a favor and track it down - it's worth your time. Until next time, stay tuned and keep it locked to The Wrestling Wire!
