Houston Hustle: AEW Brings the Heat to the Fertitta Center

August 18th, 2021 - The Fertitta Center in Houston, Texas played host to All Elite Wrestling's latest television event, a stacked card that left the crowd of 4,750 buzzing. In an evening filled with thrilling matches and surprise moments, AEW once again proved why it has become the premier destination for professional wrestling.

The night began with a high-energy opener as Darby Allin and Sting took on 2point0 (Jeff Parker and Matt Lee) in a Texas Tornado Tag Team Match. The unlikely duo of Allin and Sting, two generations removed from each other, showed incredible chemistry and synchronization to take down the plucky upstarts Parker and Lee. A swift combination of moves culminated in an Allin splash that sent Parker crashing to the mat, allowing Sting to deliver a final Stinger Splash for the win (06:16).

Next up was Sammy Guevara, looking to build on his recent momentum against Shawn Spears. The two men traded blows in a back-and-forth contest, with Guevara ultimately emerging victorious via pinfall at 8:25. While neither competitor gained a significant advantage, it was clear that Guevara's youthful exuberance and cunning were too much for the veteran Spears to overcome.

The AEW World Tag Team Title match between The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson) and The Jurassic Express (Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus) brought out the best in both teams. In a contest marked by dazzling aerial displays, technical grappling, and sheer physicality, it was The Young Bucks who ultimately emerged victorious, retaining their titles with a picture-perfect Meltzer Driver at 11:26.

Thunder Rosa's singles bout against Penelope Ford saw the former WWE performer looking to assert her dominance. Rosa's technical prowess and explosive offense were on full display as she methodically broke down Ford, culminating in a devastating Code Red for the win (08:06).

The main event of the evening featured Chris Jericho putting his Fifth Labour Of Jericho on the line against MJF. In a match that saw both competitors give it their all, it was MJF who ultimately emerged victorious, submitting Jericho with the Salt of the Earth at 15:22.

While some may have been disappointed by the outcome, it's hard to deny the impact that MJF has had on AEW since his debut. His ability to get under opponents' skin and exploit their weaknesses is unmatched, and he proved once again why he's considered one of the best in the world today.

As the dust settled on this unforgettable night of wrestling, it was clear that All Elite Wrestling has established itself as a force to be reckoned with in the professional wrestling landscape. With a diverse roster, innovative match concepts, and an unwavering commitment to delivering top-notch entertainment, AEW is here to stay – and we can't wait to see what they have in store for us next.
