AEW Rampage #98

The Windy City played host to an absolute barnburner of a show last night as All Elite Wrestling brought their brand of high-flying action to the Wintrust Arena in Chicago. I'm Mike Atherton, and I've got the lowdown on what went down at this taped TV show.

First up, we had a clash of the tag teams as Swerve Strickland and United Empire (Jeff Cobb, Kyle Fletcher, and Will Ospreay) took on CHAOS (Chuck Taylor, Rocky Romero, Trent Beretta, and YOH). It was a wild and woolly affair, with all eight competitors giving it their all. In the end, it was Strickland's team that emerged victorious, clocking in at 9:31.

Next up, Billy Gunn and The Acclaimed (Anthony Bowens and Max Caster) faced off against Axel Rico, Darius Latrell, and Koda Hernandez in a six-man tag. This one was over in a hurry, with the winners finishing their foes in just 41 seconds. You can't keep a good team down, I suppose!

The women's division got its turn in the spotlight as Skye Blue took on Anna Jay AS in an Owen Hart Foundation 2023 Women's Tournament quarterfinal match. This was a real scrap, with both competitors giving it their all. In the end, it was Blue who came out on top, clocking in at 8:17.

Finally, Jack Perry faced off against DOUKI in a singles match that had some serious implications. These two have a history, and it showed as they went toe-to-toe for 10:13. In the end, it was Perry who emerged victorious, much to the delight of the Chicago crowd.

All in all, it was a cracking show from AEW, with some top-notch action on display. The crowd was hot, the wrestling was excellent, and this writer is already looking forward to the next one. That's all for now – until next time, folks!
