The September Squall: ECW's Pay Per View Extravaganza

I'm still reeling from the whirlwind of action at Odeum Expo Center in Villa Park, Illinois last night. Extreme Championship Wrestling delivered a Pay Per View event for the ages, featuring a card that was equal parts thrilling and unpredictable. As your resident wrestling savant, I'm here to break down the highlights (and lowlights) of ECW's September Squall.

Match 1: Lance Storm vs. Jerry Lynn The evening kicked off with a solid singles match between Lance Storm and Jerry Lynn. Storm, the reigning TV champion, showcased his technical prowess, using his quickness and submission skills to take down Lynn. The match clocked in at 16:38, with Storm emerging victorious.

Match 2: Jazz vs. The Prodigy Jazz made a statement in her debut against The Prodigy, dispatching him with ease in just 58 seconds. This was a squash match if I've ever seen one – Jazz looked like a force to be reckoned with in ECW's women's division.

Match 3: Chris Chetti and Nova vs. Simon Diamond and Tony DeVito The first tag team match of the evening ended in chaos, as Chris Chetti and Nova couldn't seem to get on the same page. The bout was cut short due to a no-contest ruling after all four competitors brawled outside the ring.

Match 4: Yoshihiro Tajiri vs. Little Guido and Super Crazy In a thrilling three-way match, Yoshihiro Tajiri stole the show by outmaneuvering both Little Guido and Super Crazy. This was an impressive display of high-flying acrobatics from all three competitors – Tajiri's victory came at 14:38.

Match 5: Justin Credible vs. Sabu Justin Credible got his hands dirty against the unpredictable Sabu, but ultimately emerged victorious at 14:06. This match was a wild ride, with both men taking some serious punishment before Credible secured the win.

Match 6: Mike Awesome vs. Masato Tanaka and Taz (ECW Heavyweight Title Three Way Match) The main event of the evening featured three ECW heavyweights vying for the championship. In a shocking turn of events, Mike Awesome walked away with the title after Taz failed to capitalize on an opening against Tanaka. This match was a true clash of styles, with each competitor bringing their unique strengths (and weaknesses) to the table.

Match 7: Raven and Tommy Dreamer vs. Rhino and Steve Corino (ECW World Tag Team Title Match) The tag team championship match saw Raven and Tommy Dreamer successfully defend their titles against the formidable duo of Rhino and Steve Corino. This was a hard-hitting, back-and-forth contest that kept the crowd on their toes – the finish came at 3:24.

Match 8: Rob Van Dam vs. Balls Mahoney (ECW World Television Title Match) The final match of the evening saw Rob Van Dam put his TV title on the line against the formidable Balls Mahoney. In a thrilling encounter, VD utilized his aerial attacks to outmaneuver Mahoney and retain his championship at 19:39.

As I left the Odeum Expo Center last night, I couldn't help but feel that ECW's September Squall was an event for the ages. With so many thrilling matches and memorable moments, it's clear that this promotion is still pushing the envelope in the world of professional wrestling. Until next time, folks...
