ECW's "Hardcore Justice" Delivers Thrills and Spills at the Hammerstein Ballroom
January 7th, 2001 - New York City, NY - The Hammerstein Ballroom played host to Extreme Championship Wrestling's latest Pay Per View event, "Hardcore Justice", and what a night it was! A packed crowd of 2500 fans witnessed some truly unforgettable moments as the best of ECW went toe-to-toe in a series of brutal battles.
The action kicked off with a high-flying tag team match between Cyrus and Jerry Lynn taking on Christian York and Joey Matthews. The former duo emerged victorious, securing the win in just 2 minutes and 41 seconds. A strong start to the night, but it was soon upstaged by the opening of the ECW World Tag Team Title match.
Hot Commodity (EZ Money and Julio Dinero) put their titles on the line against Danny Doring and Roadkill, and what a war this was! The challengers showed incredible resilience, eventually claiming victory in 10 minutes and 6 seconds. A thrilling opener that set the tone for the rest of the night.
Next up, Nova took on Chris Hamrick in a singles match. This one was all about technical grappling, with both men showcasing their skills before Nova emerged victorious in just 5 minutes and 30 seconds.
The real main event got underway as Tommy Dreamer faced off against CW Anderson in an I Quit Match. These two ECW legends put everything on the line, delivering a brutal and intense contest that saw Dreamer ultimately emerge victorious after 14 minutes and 11 seconds of punishment.
The Three Way Tag Team match was another highlight of the night, with Mikey Whipwreck and Yoshihiro Tajiri teaming up to take down Kid Kash, Super Crazy, and The FBI (Little Guido and Tony Mamaluke). This one was a wild ride from start to finish, concluding in 13 minutes and 31 seconds.
A No Contest was declared when Balls Mahoney and Chilly Willy faced off against Simon Diamond and Swinger. It seemed that neither team could gain the upper hand, leading to the referee calling off the match after just 1 minute.
The ECW Heavyweight Title scene took center stage as Justin Credible and Steve Corino challenged The Sandman in a Three Way Tables, Ladders, Chairs & Canes Match. In the end, it was The Sandman who emerged victorious, setting up his title shot later in the night.
That match came to pass when Rhino faced off against The Sandman for the ECW Heavyweight Title. The challenger put everything on the line, but ultimately fell short as Rhino retained his title.
The final bout of the evening saw Rob Van Dam take on Jerry Lynn in a singles match. This was an incredible contest that showcased the best of both men before RVD emerged victorious after 19 minutes and 30 seconds of action.
And that's a wrap! ECW's "Hardcore Justice" was a true showcase of professional wrestling at its finest, with each match delivering something special for the fans in attendance. Until next time...
