New Japan Pro Wrestling Returns to Osaka-Jo Hall with Thrilling Card
Osaka, Japan - June 8th, 2024 - In a thrilling night of professional wrestling, New Japan Pro Wrestling brought the excitement to the packed Osaka-jo Hall. The sold-out crowd of 7,254 was treated to an action-packed card featuring some of the best talent in the world.
The evening kicked off with Tetsuya Naito taking down Callum Newman in a singles match that saw the former IWGP Heavyweight Champion showcasing his signature style and flair. The win took Naito just 8 minutes and 8 seconds to secure, leaving no doubt as to why he's considered one of the top stars in NJPW.
The first major match of the evening saw TMDK (Kosei Fujita, Robbie Eagles, and Zack Sabre Jr.) team up to take down BULLET CLUB War Dogs and LJ Cleary in a six-man tag team affair. The high-flying action and technical grappling on display made for an entertaining 9 minutes and 41 seconds of wrestling.
The NJPW King Of Pro-Wrestling Title Storm Catch Rules Match saw Great-O-Khan emerge victorious against Yuya Uemura, further solidifying his position as a top contender in the promotion.
Los Ingobernables de Japon (BUSHI, Hiromu Takahashi, and Yota Tsuji) then took to the ring to face Hiroshi Tanahashi, Oleg Boltin, and Toru Yano in a NEVER Openweight Six Man Tag Team Title match. The L.I.J. trio's teamwork and individual skills led them to victory, further cementing their status as one of NJPW's top factions.
The main event of the evening saw Jeff Cobb put his NJPW World Television Title on the line against Tomohiro Ishii. In a hard-hitting encounter that took 11 minutes and 47 seconds to complete, Cobb managed to retain his title with a dominant performance.
In another thrilling bout, TMDK's Mikey Nicholls and Shane Haste teamed up to take down BULLET CLUB, Guerrillas Of Destiny, and Bishamon in an IWGP Tag Team Title Four Way Elimination Tornado Match. The chaos was palpable as the four teams battled it out for nearly 20 minutes before the victors were crowned.
Shingo Takagi then faced Henare in a NEVER Openweight Title match that ended in a thrilling double KO, leaving the crowd stunned and on their feet.
The evening's main event saw Jon Moxley put his IWGP World Heavyweight Title on the line against EVIL in a Lumberjack Match. The action was fast-paced and relentless as both men gave it their all. In the end, Moxley emerged victorious after 25 minutes and 1 second of intense wrestling.
Finally, El Desperado capped off an incredible night with a Best Of The Super Junior 31 Final victory over Taiji Ishimori. The match took an impressive 23 minutes and 36 seconds to complete, solidifying Desperado's position as one of the top junior heavyweights in NJPW.
ZOHASH VERDICT: An outstanding card from start to finish, New Japan Pro Wrestling once again delivered on its promise of high-quality professional wrestling. With so many thrilling matches and moments throughout the evening, it's no wonder that the sold-out crowd at Osaka-jo Hall went home thoroughly entertained. A must-watch for any fan of professional wrestling.
