New Japan Pro Wrestling Report - July 15th, 2018

The Ota City General Gymnasium played host to an action-packed night of professional wrestling as New Japan Pro Wrestling brought the heat to Tokyo, Japan. The sold-out crowd of 3,826 fans were treated to a stacked card featuring some of the best talent in the world.

Tag Team Mayhem

The evening got underway with four tag team matches that showcased the incredible depth and talent within the NJPW locker room. BULLET CLUB's Chase Owens and Hangman Page emerged victorious against Michael Elgin and Shota Umino, while Los Ingobernables de Japon (BUSHI and EVIL) took down CHAOS (SHO and YOSHI-HASHI). Suzuki-gun (El Desperado and Minoru Suzuki) also tasted victory against Toa Henare and Togi Makabe, as did BULLET CLUB's Bad Luck Fale and Tanga Loa in their match against CHAOS (Gedo and Kazuchika Okada).

G1 Climax 2018 Action

The real main event took place on the undercard as the G1 Climax 2018 Block B matches stole the show. Tomohiro Ishii bested Toru Yano with a dominant performance, while Tama Tonga outlasted Juice Robinson in a thrilling contest that saw both men give it their all.

Hirooki Goto and SANADA engaged in an intense battle that saw Goto ultimately emerge victorious, but not before SANADA showed him what he's capable of. Kota Ibushi and Zack Sabre Jr. put on a clinic, with Ibushi eventually securing the win after a grueling 22:58 match.

And in the night's main event, Kenny Omega clashed with Tetsuya Naito in a war that had the crowd on the edge of their seats. Omega emerged victorious, but not before both men showed incredible resilience and determination.

What We Learned

This card showcased NJPW's ability to put together a stacked show from top to bottom. The G1 Climax matches proved once again why this tournament is one of the most highly anticipated events in professional wrestling. Kenny Omega continues to solidify his position as one of the best in the world, while Tetsuya Naito remains an unstoppable force.

Rating:

9/10

The only drawback was the slightly slow pace at times, but overall, this card delivered on its promise and left fans eagerly anticipating what's next for NJPW.
