NJPW LIVE FROM SAPPORO: G1 CLIMAX 2020 TAKES CENTER STAGE

September 23rd, 2020 - Hokkaido Prefectural Sports Center, Sapporo, Japan - Attendance: 1961

It was a night to remember in Sapporo as New Japan Pro Wrestling brought its G1 Climax 2020 tournament to the frozen tundra of Hokkaido. In front of a packed house, some of the best professional wrestlers from around the world put it all on the line in a series of intense and thrilling matches.

Singles Action to Start

In the opening bout, Gabriel Kidd made quick work of Yuya Uemura, finishing him off with a vicious-looking package piledriver in 7 minutes and 21 seconds. It was a solid start to the night for the young upstart, who is looking to make a name for himself on the NJPW circuit.

G1 Climax 2020 Block A Takes Center Stage

The main event of the evening kicked off with Jeff Cobb taking on Shingo Takagi in a G1 Climax 2020 Block A match. The two powerhouses went at it, trading blows and near-falls before Cobb emerged victorious with a devastating top-rope splash at 11 minutes and 44 seconds.

Next up was Kazuchika Okada, looking to make a statement against Yujiro Takahashi in their own Block A showdown. The two competitors traded holds and near-falls before Okada finally put away his opponent with the Rainmaker at 12 minutes and 1 second.

Taichi then faced off against Minoru Suzuki in what was expected to be a hard-hitting contest. In the end, Taichi's quickness and agility allowed him to outmaneuver the veteran Suzuki, earning the win at 12 minutes and 11 seconds.

Will Ospreay Shines in Block A

The first of the night's longer matches saw Will Ospreay put on a show against Tomohiro Ishii. The two competitors went toe-to-toe for nearly 18 minutes before Ospreay finally secured the win with a thrilling OsCutter at 18 minutes and 20 seconds.

Finally, it was Jay White looking to make a statement in his Block A match against Kota Ibushi. In what was perhaps the most intense and physical contest of the night, White managed to outlast the hard-hitting Ibushi, securing the win at 20 minutes and 28 seconds.
