NEW JAPAN PRO-WRESTLING DELIVERS THRILLING PPV EVENT IN AMAGASAKI
The Amagasaki Memorial Park Gymnasium played host to a thrilling New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) pay-per-view event on March 23, 2014. The highly anticipated card featured a mix of tag team action and individual showdowns, capped off by the crowning of a new New Japan Cup champion.
The evening kicked off with a lively tag team match between BUSHI and KUSHIDA, and Captain New Japan and Sho Tanaka. The young duo from BUSHI impressed with their high-flying moves, ultimately securing a 9:08 victory over their more experienced opponents.
Next up, Suzuki-gun made a statement by defeating TenKoji, Jushin Thunder Liger, and Tiger Mask in an eight-man tag team match. The talented quintet showcased their cohesion and skill, notching an 8:04 win.
The CHAOS faction then took center stage, as Kazushi Sakuraba, Manabu Nakanishi, and Yuji Nagata defeated Jado, Takashi Iizuka, and Toru Yano in a six-man tag team match. The veterans from CHAOS put up a valiant effort, but ultimately fell short at 8:24.
The New Japan Cup quarterfinals saw two highly competitive matches. Bad Luck Fale's aggression proved too much for Shelton Benjamin, as he secured a decisive victory in just 4:13. Meanwhile, Shinsuke Nakamura demonstrated his technical prowess, besting Minoru Suzuki in a thrilling encounter that lasted 13:12.
The tag team action continued with Hirooki Goto and Katsuyori Shibata defeating YOSHI-HASHI and Yujiro Takahashi. The experienced duo's teamwork earned them a hard-fought victory at 10:02.
Great Bash Heel, comprised of Hiroshi Tanahashi, Ryusuke Taguchi, and an impressive Hirooki Goto, took down the BULLET CLUB in an eight-man tag team match. Doc Gallows, Karl Anderson, Prince Devitt, and Tama Tonga proved formidable opponents, but ultimately fell short at 9:32.
The main event of the evening saw El Desperado, Kota Ibushi, and Tetsuya Naito combine forces to defeat CHAOS in a six-man tag team match. The trio's chemistry was undeniable, as they secured a thrilling victory at 13:58.
Finally, Shinsuke Nakamura and Bad Luck Fale faced off in the New Japan Cup final. In a contest that showcased both competitors' skills, Nakamura emerged victorious, claiming the coveted title with a time-honored submission hold at 15:20.
