New Japan Pro Wrestling's "Invasion" Delivers Thrills and Spills

Fukuoka International Center, Fukuoka, Japan - May 3rd, 2011 - New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) brought its unique brand of professional wrestling to the Fukuoka International Center last night, with a stacked card that featured some of the best talent in the business. "Invasion" was the theme of the evening, as top stars from around the world converged on this Japanese city to do battle.

The show kicked off with a six-man tag team match between Hiromu Takahashi, Manabu Nakanishi and Tomoaki Honma against CHAOS (Gedo, Jado and Killer Rabbit). The babyfaces came out on top in 4:36, setting the tone for an evening of high-flying action.

Next up was a tag team match pitting Kojima Army (Taichi and TAKA Michinoku) against KUSHIDA and Tiger Mask. The latter duo's inexperience showed as they were dominated by their more seasoned opponents, ultimately falling in 6:43.

The CHAOS faction struck back with a win of their own, as Takashi Iizuka, Tomohiro Ishii and Toru Yano took down Seigigun and Hiroyoshi Tenzan in another six-man tag team match. This one was just as competitive as the first, but in the end, CHAOS emerged victorious at 7:57.

The CMLL World Middleweight Title was on the line in a thrilling encounter between Jushin Thunder Liger and Mascara Dorada. The challenger's innovative moveset couldn't overcome the champion's experience, however, as Liger retained his title in 10:04.

Apollo 55 (Prince Devitt and Ryusuke Taguchi) and No Remorse Corps (Davey Richards and Rocky Romero) clashed in a match for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Titles. The champions proved their worth by outlasting their challengers in an exhausting 17:41 contest.

The main event of the evening was the highly anticipated rematch between Giant Bernard and Karl Anderson, seeking to dethrone NO LIMIT (Tetsuya Naito and Yujiro Takahashi) as IWGP Tag Team Champions. The winners of the first encounter repeated their success in 19:49, solidifying their position at the top of the tag team division.

Before the main event, fans were treated to a pair of singles matches that showcased some of NJPW's finest talent. Hirooki Goto and Tama Tonga teamed up to defeat Makoto Hashi and Takashi Sugiura in 9:43, while Yuji Nagata earned a hard-fought victory over Masato Tanaka in 14:53.

Togi Makabe notched another win by defeating Satoshi Kojima in 11:51, demonstrating his growing reputation as one of the promotion's top stars.

And finally, the main event took place. Hiroshi Tanahashi and Shinsuke Nakamura clashed for the IWGP Heavyweight Title, with the challenger seeking to become just the second man to dethrone Tanahashi in this era. In a back-and-forth contest that saw both men push each other to their limits, Tanahashi emerged victorious after 20:17.

"Invasion" was a resounding success for New Japan Pro Wrestling, featuring a diverse range of matches and showcasing the best of what the promotion has to offer. With so many talented wrestlers on its roster, it's clear that NJPW is in good hands as it looks to continue building its global presence.
