WCW October '90 Pay Per View Report

October 27th, 1990 - UIC Pavilion, Chicago, Illinois, USA

The World Championship Wrestling (WCW) delivered a star-studded pay-per-view event to the good people of Chicago last night, and this reporter was fortunate enough to witness it all go down. From opening bell to closing curtain, the action was non-stop, with multiple championship changes and thrilling bouts that left the 8,000-strong crowd on the edge of their seats.

Tag Team Tussles

The evening kicked off with a tag team match featuring Ricky Morton and Tommy Rich taking on The Midnight Express (Bobby Eaton and Stan Lane). This one was all about high-flying moves and technical grappling. In the end, it was Morton and Rich who emerged victorious, clocking in at 20:49.

Next up was Terry Taylor versus Bill Irwin in a singles match. Taylor's technical prowess proved to be too much for Irwin, as he submitted him in just 11:47 minutes.

More Action

Brad Armstrong kept the pace going with a quick 5:04 squash of JW Storm. The Master Blasters (Master Blaster Blade and Master Blaster Steele) then took on The Southern Boys (Steve Armstrong and Tracy Smothers) in another tag team match. This one was all about power versus finesse, but in the end, it was the Master Blasters who got their win in 7:17.

The Fabulous Freebirds (Jimmy Garvin and Michael Hayes) faced off against The Renegade Warriors (Chris Youngblood and Mark Youngblood) in what turned out to be a wild tag team match. These two teams know how to put on a show, and this one was no exception, clocking in at 17:28.

Title Tussles

The WCW United States Tag Team Titles were on the line as The Steiner Brothers (Rick Steiner and Scott Steiner) took on The Nasty Boys (Brian Knobbs and Jerry Sags). This match was a battle for supremacy, with both teams giving it their all. In the end, the Steiners retained their titles in 15:24.

The Junkyard Dog got his win over Moondog Rex in just 3:15 minutes, while Doom (Butch Reed and Ron Simmons) double counted out The Four Horsemen (Arn Anderson and Ric Flair) in a thrilling NWA World Tag Team Title match that went the distance at 18:20.

Main Event Mayhem

The main event saw Stan Hansen challenge Lex Luger for the NWA United States Heavyweight Title. This one was all about power versus technicality, with both men giving it their all. In the end, Hansen emerged victorious, claiming the title in what was an incredibly close match.

And finally, we had the night's main attraction: Sting taking on Sid Vicious for the NWA World Heavyweight Title. This was a clash of the titans, with both men putting everything on the line. In the end, it was Sting who emerged victorious, retaining his title in 12:38 minutes.

All in all, this was an incredible pay-per-view event that showcased the best of what WCW has to offer. If you missed it, make sure to catch the replay - it's well worth your time!
