Wrestling Report: Impact Wrestling's "Sacrifice" PPV Event
Orlando, FL - Universal Studios - May 14, 2006
The Impact Wrestling promotion brought the heat to Orlando's Universal Studios on Sunday night with their latest Pay Per View event, Sacrifice. A stacked card featuring some of the best talent in the business, and I'm here to break it all down for you.
Match 1: Jushin Thunder Liger vs. Petey Williams (World X Cup Second Round) The show kicked off with a bang as Jushin Thunder Liger took on Petey Williams in a World X Cup second-round match. Liger's lightning-quick moves and Williams' high-flying antics made for an entertaining opener, with Liger ultimately emerging victorious at 8:30.
Match 2: America's Most Wanted (Chris Harris & James Storm) vs. AJ Styles & Christopher Daniels (NWA World Tag Team Title) The tag team action picked up where it left off in the previous match as America's Most Wanted put their NWA World Tag Team titles on the line against AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels. This one was a barnburner, with AMW retaining their straps at 15:40.
Match 3: Raven vs. A1 (Singles) Raven made his presence felt in a singles match against A1, using his cunning and experience to outmaneuver the younger competitor. The result? A quick win for Raven at just 5:30.
Match 4: Bobby Roode vs. Rhino (Singles) The action slowed down slightly with Bobby Roode's encounter with Rhino, but not by much. These two big boys went toe-to-toe, with Roode emerging victorious at 12:16.
Match 5: The James Gang (BG James & Kip James) vs. Team 3D (Brother Devon & Brother Ray) (Tag Team) The tag team wars continued as the James Gang took on Team 3D in a wild and woolly match. In the end, it was all about the James brothers, who scored the win at 9:40.
Match 6: Petey Williams vs. Gauntlet of World X Cup Competitors (World X Cup Final) The main event of the night took place in the ring as Petey Williams faced off against a gauntlet of competitors vying for the World X Cup title. This one was a true test of endurance, with Williams ultimately emerging victorious at 18:13.
Match 7: Samoa Joe & Sting vs. Jeff Jarrett & Scott Steiner (Tag Team) The final match on the card saw a dream team of Samoa Joe and Sting take on the unlikely duo of Jeff Jarrett and Scott Steiner. This one was all about the power of good vs. evil, with the heroic tandem coming out on top at 14:30.
Match 8: Christian Cage vs. Abyss (NWA World Heavyweight Title - Full Metal Mayhem) And finally, we had our main event as Christian Cage put his NWA World Heavyweight title on the line against the monstrous Abyss in a wild and unpredictable Full Metal Mayhem match. In the end, it was Cage's cunning that won out, as he retained his title at 16:14.
