Wrestling Report: WCW's "Holding Court" PPV

August 13th, 2000 - Pacific Coliseum, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

The WCW faithful packed the Pacific Coliseum last night for the "Holding Court" pay-per-view event, and this scribe was on hand to take in all the action. The card featured a mix of high-flying matches, grueling brawls, and a dash of drama - and it's safe to say that this show had something for everyone.

The Undercard

The evening got underway with 3-Count taking on The Jung Dragons in a thrilling double ladder six-man tag team match. Evan Karagias, Shane Helms, and Shannon Moore proved once again why they're one of the top trios in the business, as they outmaneuvered their opponents to secure the win.

The Cat also got in on the action early, using his cunning and quickness to outwit The Great Muta in a quick but satisfying singles match. And Buff Bagwell proved that he's still got it, defeating Positively Kanyon in a wild Judy Bagwell on a pole match.

Tag Team Mayhem

The tag team action was where things really got interesting, as KroniK took on four teams - Mark Jindrak and Sean O'Haire, The Misfits In Action, and The Perfect Event - for the WCW World Tag Team Titles. This chaotic affair saw plenty of near-falls and reversals, but in the end, Brian Adams and Bryan Clarke emerged victorious to retain their titles.

Strap Match Mayhem

Billy Kidman and The Franchise engaged in a brutal strap match that saw both men willing to go to extreme lengths to emerge victorious. In the end, it was Kidman who came out on top, but not before The Franchise had inflicted some serious punishment.

Mud, Mire, and Mayhem

Major Gunns may have gotten her hands dirty in the Rip Off the Camouflage Mud match against Miss Hancock, but she proved that she's more than capable of handling herself in the mud. This wild affair saw both women slugging it out amidst the muck and mire, with Gunns ultimately emerging victorious.

Sting Strikes

The Demon may have been a formidable opponent, but Sting was not to be underestimated. In a shockingly brief match, Sting dispatched his foe in just 53 seconds - setting the stage for what promises to be an epic encounter down the line.

Lance Storm Rolls

And in a battle of attrition, Lance Storm outlasted Mike Awesome in a grueling WCW United States Title Canadian Rules match. This affair saw both men give it their all, but Storm's sheer determination ultimately paid off as he retained his title.

The Main Event Mayhem

The evening's main event was a true spectacle, as Kevin Nash took on Goldberg and Scott Steiner in an anything goes three-way dance for the World Heavyweight Title #1 contendership. This wild affair saw all three men go toe-to-toe, with Nash ultimately emerging victorious to set himself up as the top challenger for Booker T's title.

The Main Event Mayhem (Part 2)

And speaking of Booker T, he closed out the show by defeating Jeff Jarrett in a thrilling World Heavyweight Title match. This affair saw both men give it their all, with Booker ultimately emerging victorious to retain his title.

All in all, "Holding Court" was an excellent showcase for WCW's talent pool, featuring a mix of high-flying action and gritty brawling that kept the crowd on their toes from start to finish. If you missed this one, make sure to catch it on replay - or better yet, tune in next time to see what WCW has in store for us!
