"A Night of Upsets and Unfinished Business: WWL's Calgary Card Review"
As I stepped into the Scotiabank Saddledome on that crisp November evening, I could sense the electricity in the air. The anticipation was palpable, and the 10,521-strong crowd was primed for a night of high-stakes wrestling. World Wrestling Entertainment's latest TV special did not disappoint, delivering a card that will be remembered for its surprises, twists, and moments of sheer brilliance.
The main event may have been the WWE United States Title match between Rey Mysterio and Austin Theory, but it was the opening bout that set the tone for an unpredictable evening. Asuka and Charlotte Flair clashed in a singles match that promised to be a technical masterpiece. Unfortunately, their contest ended in a No Contest after both competitors became entangled in the ropes, causing the referee to call off the match. While it wasn't the resolution fans were hoping for, the quality of wrestling on display was undeniable.
The first win of the night came courtesy of AJ Styles, who outlasted Karrion Kross in a hard-hitting singles match. The "Phenomenal One" proved his mettle once again, showcasing his signature blend of athleticism and technical skill to secure the victory (9:49).
In a bout that flew under the radar but impressed nonetheless, LA Knight dispatched Top Dolla with ease, dominating their encounter from start to finish. The "Bounty" hunter's quickness and cunning proved too much for his opponent, as he wrapped up the win in just 2 minutes and 2 seconds.
The penultimate match saw Mysterio claim a hard-fought victory over Austin Theory in a WWE United States Title contest. The "Master of Hindsight" demonstrated why he's one of the best in the business, using his cunning and quickness to evade Theory's attacks before delivering a devastating 619 to secure the win.
In the end, while some may leave Calgary feeling frustrated by the Asuka-Flair No Contest, the evening's other matches more than made up for it. With a mix of high-stakes title action and thrilling undercard bouts, this WWL card will be remembered as one that kept fans on their toes until the very final bell.
