WWE SmackDown Review
The Enterprise Center in St. Louis, Missouri was electric last night as WWE brought the house down with an action-packed episode of SmackDown! The show featured a stacked card that saw some of the top talent in the company do battle for gold and glory.
In the opening match of the evening, #DIY (Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa) emerged victorious from a chaotic Fatal Four Way Tag Team Title #1 Contendership Qualifier. The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods), Imperium (Giovanni Vinci and Ludwig Kaiser), and The Creed Brothers (Brutus Creed and Julius Creed) all clashed in a thrilling 17:33 bout that saw Gargano and Ciampa prove their worth as top contenders.
Next up, Becky Lynch looked to make a statement against Shayna Baszler in an Elimination Chamber Perth Qualifying Match. And statement she did, defeating the formidable Baszler via pinfall in a hard-hitting 12:40 match that showcased both women's technical skills and sheer determination.
The Viking Raiders (Ivar and Valhalla) were back to their old tricks, dominating Alpha Academy (Akira Tozawa and Maxxine Dupri) in a Mixed Tag Team Match. The Raiders' unique blend of power and finesse proved too much for the up-and-coming duo, as they dispatched them in just 2:04.
The Miz made his presence felt next, taking on JD McDonagh in a Singles Match. The former WWE Champion showed no signs of slowing down, outwitting and overpowering McDonagh en route to a 9:48 victory that solidified his spot at the top of the SmackDown heap.
In a match that's sure to be remembered for some time, The Kabuki Warriors (Asuka and Kairi Sane) put on a showstopping display against Katana Chance and Kayden Carter in a WWE Women's Tag Team Title Match. Asuka and Sane's technical prowess and sheer athleticism proved too much for the up-and-coming duo, as they captured the titles in a 9:50 thriller.
Finally, Cody Rhodes brought his A-game to the ring, taking on Shinsuke Nakamura in a hard-hitting Bullrope Match. The two warriors clashed in a back-and-forth battle that saw both men give it their all. In the end, Rhodes emerged victorious, pinning Nakamura after a stunning Cross Rhodes.
That's all for this week's SmackDown review! If you missed any of the action, be sure to check out the replay and get ready for what promises to be an unforgettable ride as WWE continues to build towards WrestleMania. Until next time, stay loud and proud, folks!
