WWF SmackDown Live Report

August 3rd, 2009 - Mohegan Sun Arena, Uncasville, Connecticut

Last night's live edition of SmackDown on the WWE Network saw a thrilling card that kept the packed Mohegan Sun Arena on the edge of their seats. The event was marked by some impressive performances and surprises, which I'll get to in due course.

The night kicked off with a singles match between Jack Swagger and Evan Bourne. This one was all about high-flying action as both men showcased their aerial prowess. In the end, it was Swagger who emerged victorious, pinning Bourne after a thunderous Swagger Bomb in 2:15.

Match 2: Beth Phoenix and Jillian Hall vs. Gail Kim and Mickie James

The first women's match of the night saw an intriguing tag team contest between the formidable duo of Beth Phoenix and Jillian Hall taking on the popular pairing of Gail Kim and Mickie James. This one was a real barnburner, with all four competitors giving it their all. In the end, it was Phoenix who delivered a devastating Glam Slam to Kim, allowing her and Hall to pick up the win in 3:20.

Match 3: Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase vs. Triple H (Handicap Match)

Next up was a two-on-one handicap match featuring the unlikely pairing of Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase taking on the game Triple H. This one was all about strategy, with Rhodes and DiBiase working in tandem to wear down the veteran superstar. In the end, it was Rhodes who delivered a devastating CrossRhodes to seal the deal, with DiBiase adding insult to injury by delivering a vicious Million Dollar Dream to ensure the win for his team in 11:25.

Match 4: Carlito vs. Primo

The fourth match of the night saw two former tag team partners, Carlito and Primo, clash in a singles bout. This one was all about technical grappling, with both men trading holds and counters. In the end, it was Carlito who came out on top, submitting Primo to a sharpshooter in 3:10.

Match 5: Mark Henry vs. Chavo Guerrero

The fifth match of the night saw a battle of strength and power as Mark Henry took on Chavo Guerrero. This one was all about brute force, with both men trading blows and slams. In the end, it was Henry who emerged victorious, pinning Guerrero after a devastating powerslam in just 1:10.

Match 6: Kofi Kingston vs. The Big Show (WWE United States Title Match)

The main event of the night saw Kofi Kingston put his WWE United States Championship on the line against the giant Big Show. This one was all about big matches, with both men trading blows and flying moves. In the end, it was Kingston who retained his title, delivering a thunderous Trouble in Paradise to send the crowd home happy in 5:20.

Main Event: John Cena vs. The Miz (Lumberjack Match)

The final match of the night saw John Cena take on The Miz in a lumberjack match. This one was all about chaos and unpredictability, with both men getting involved in a wild brawl that spilled outside the ring. In the end, it was Cena who emerged victorious, delivering an Attitude Adjustment to send the crowd home happy in 5:20.
