WWE NXT TAKEOVER: ORLANDO REVIEW

April 1st, 2017 - Amway Center, Orlando, Florida, USA

The WWE's developmental brand, NXT, once again brought the heat to the Sunshine State as Takeover: Orlando went down in front of a packed house at the Amway Center. Your correspondent was ringside to witness all the action, and I'm here to give you the lowdown on what went down.

Match 1: Mixed Eight Man Tag Team Match

SAnitY (Alexander Wolfe, Eric Young, Killian Dain, and Nikki Cross) took on a makeshift team of Kassius Ohno, Roderick Strong, Ruby Riot, and Tye Dillinger in the opening contest. The chaos was palpable as eight bodies clashed in a frenetic display of power and agility. In the end, SAnitY emerged victorious, their brutal efficiency proving too much for the opposing quartet (12:10).

Match 2: Singles Match

Aleister Black made short work of Andrade Almas, delivering a vicious Black Mass to secure the win in just under ten minutes (9:37). The dominant display by the former indie star left little doubt as to why he's considered one of NXT's top prospects.

Match 3: WWE NXT Tag Team Title Triple Threat Elimination Match

The Authors Of Pain (Akam and Rezar) clashed with #DIY (Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa) and The Revival (Dash Wilder and Scott Dawson) in a thrilling triple threat tag team title match. AOP's brute strength ultimately told, as they eliminated both #DIY and The Revival to retain their championships (23:37).

Match 4: WWE NXT Women's Title Match

Asuka faced off against Ember Moon for the vacant women's championship, and it was a battle for the ages. In the end, the dominant Asuka proved too much for the up-and-coming Moon, pinning her to claim the title (12:14).

Main Event: WWE NXT Title Match

The main event saw Bobby Roode challenge Shinsuke Nakamura for the top prize in NXT. What ensued was a war of attrition, with both men giving it their all. In the end, Roode's experience and cunning paid off, as he pinned Nakamura to claim the title (28:07).

Overall Thoughts

Takeover: Orlando was an outstanding event that showcased some of NXT's top talent. While not every match reached its full potential, the overall package was well worth the price of admission. As we look ahead to the future, it's clear that NXT is in capable hands and continues to be a driving force behind WWE's creative resurgence.

Final Grade: 4/5

Recommendation:

If you're a fan of professional wrestling, especially the more technical and athletic aspects of the sport, then Takeover: Orlando is a must-see event. Even casual fans will find plenty to enjoy in this stacked card, featuring some of the best up-and-comers in the business.
