WWE Live in Cleveland Recap: Styles and Nakamura Shine

August 1st, 2017 - Quicken Loans Arena, Cleveland, Ohio

The WWE rolled into the Heartland of America last night, bringing with them a stacked card that left the crowd at the Quicken Loans Arena buzzing. In front of a raucous crowd, several top stars made their mark in what was an entertaining and action-packed show.

Match 1: AJ Styles vs. Kevin Owens (WWE United States Title Match)

The main event of the evening got underway with the WWE's resident darling, AJ Styles, putting his title on the line against the formidable Kevin Owens. This one had all the makings of a classic - two of the best in-ring performers in the business going at it with a major championship on the line.

In the end, it was Styles who emerged victorious, retaining the United States Title via a near-fall-inducing sequence that left both men reeling. The match clocked in at an impressive 20:00, a testament to the intensity and physicality of these two competitors.

Match 2: Aiden English vs. Sami Zayn

In what was shaping up to be a snooze-fest early on, Aiden English managed to turn things around by unleashing his patented "Glorious" offense on Sami Zayn. The result? A decisive victory for the former NXT star, with the clock stopping at 1:00.

Match 3: Becky Lynch and Naomi vs. Carmella and Natalya

The women's division shone brightly in match three as Becky Lynch and Naomi took on the formidable duo of Carmella and Natalya. In a high-energy affair that saw all four competitors give it their all, the winners were... well, let's just say it was a team effort! The clock ticked over to 5:00 as our heroines picked up the W.

Match 4: Rusev vs. Chad Gable

In what was shaping up to be a battle of strength and power, Rusev proved too much for Chad Gable, securing the win in just 9:25 minutes. The "Bulgarian Brute" continues to make a strong case for himself as a top-tier competitor.

Match 5: Shinsuke Nakamura vs. John Cena (WWE Title #1 Contendership Match)

And then there was the main event. In what was one of the most electric matches I've had the pleasure of witnessing, Shinsuke Nakamura and John Cena went toe-to-toe in a thrilling contest that saw the winner earn themselves a shot at the WWE Championship.

In a match that was equal parts technical grappling and high-impact action, it was the King of Strong Style who emerged victorious. Nakamura's Kinshasa kick proved to be the decisive blow, securing him a date with Roman Reigns for the WWE Title in what promises to be an absolute barnburner.

All in all, last night's show was a resounding success - proof that even on a relatively low-key TV taping, the WWE can still deliver a memorable and impactful evening of professional wrestling. Until next time... SAY HI TO THE FOLKS AT ZOHASH.COM!
