WrestleMania XXVII Report
The Georgia Dome played host to the biggest event in professional wrestling, WrestleMania XXVII, and what a show it was! The sold-out crowd of over 71,000 fans were treated to an evening of non-stop action, drama, and excitement.
World Heavyweight Title Match: Edge vs. Alberto Del Rio
The main event of the night got underway with the World Heavyweight Championship on the line as Edge put his title on the line against the formidable Alberto Del Rio. In a thrilling contest that saw both men give it their all, Edge emerged victorious after a series of near-falls and finally nailed Del Rio with the Razor's Edge to retain the championship.
Cody Rhodes vs. Rey Mysterio
The first match of the evening saw Cody Rhodes take on Rey Mysterio in what was expected to be an aerial assault extravaganza. And boy, did it deliver! The two high-flyers traded near-falls and moves, with Mysterio showing off his incredible athleticism. In the end, however, it was Rhodes who came out on top, pinning Mysterio after a devastating Cross Rhodes.
Eight-Man Tag Team Match: Kane, Kofi Kingston, Santino Marella & The Big Show vs. The Corre
The first tag team match of the night saw a huge eight-man match featuring some of the biggest names in WWE. In what was an absolute barnburner of a match, Kane, Kofi Kingston, Santino Marella, and The Big Show managed to hold off the formidable Corre (Ezekiel Jackson, Heath Slater, Justin Gabriel, and Wade Barrett) for the win.
Randy Orton vs. CM Punk
In what was billed as a clash of styles, Randy Orton took on CM Punk in a singles match that had all the makings of a classic. The two superstars went toe-to-toe, trading holds and moves before Orton finally caught Punk with an RKO to secure the win.
Michael Cole vs. Jerry Lawler (Special Referee: Steve Austin)
In what was easily the most bizarre match of the night, Michael Cole took on Jerry Lawler in a singles match with none other than Stone Cold Steve Austin serving as special referee. And boy, did it deliver! The three men put on a show for the ages, with Cole ultimately emerging victorious after a series of low blows and quick pins.
The Undertaker vs. Triple H
In what was arguably the most anticipated match of the night, The Undertaker took on Triple H in a No Holds Barred Match that had all the makings of a classic. And boy, did it deliver! The two legends went toe-to-toe, trading holds and moves before Taker finally put an end to it with a devastating Tombstone Piledriver.
Mixed Six-Man Tag Team Match: John Morrison, Snooki & Trish Stratus vs. Dolph Ziggler & LayCool
In what was easily the most unique match of the night, John Morrison, Snooki, and Trish Stratus took on Dolph Ziggler and LayCool (Layla and Michelle McCool) in a mixed six-man tag team match that had all the makings of a wild ride. And boy, did it deliver! The six superstars put on an absolute show for the ages, with Morrison's team emerging victorious after a series of high-flying moves and pin attempts.
WWE Championship No Disqualification Match: The Miz vs. John Cena
And finally, it was time for the WWE Championship to be defended as The Miz took on John Cena in a No Disqualification Match that had all the makings of an instant classic. And boy, did it deliver! The two superstars went toe-to-toe, trading holds and moves before Miz ultimately emerged victorious after a series of low blows and quick pins.
