KING OF THE RING 2001: AN EVENING OF THRILLS AND UPSETS AT CONTINENTAL AIRLINES ARENA
It's your reporter here, and I've got the inside scoop on last night's star-studded pay-per-view event at the Continental Airlines Arena in East Rutherford, New Jersey. World Wrestling Entertainment brought the heat with a packed card featuring some of the best talent in the business.
First off, Christian looked to make a statement against Kurt Angle in the King Of The Ring 2001 semi-final match. But Angle's sheer intensity and technical prowess proved too much for the high-flying challenger, as he secured the win via submission in 8:51. You can't help but wonder if this is a sign of things to come – Christian's future in the WWE hangs precariously in the balance.
Next up, Edge and Rhyno clashed in another semi-final showdown. And what an absolute barnburner it was! These two hard-hitting competitors traded blows for 10:20, with Edge ultimately emerging victorious via pinfall. This one had all the makings of a classic – expect to see these two at it again soon.
The WWF World Tag Team Title match saw The Dudley Boyz (Bubba Ray and D-Von) face off against Kane and Spike Dudley. In a shocking upset, the veteran tag team duo dethroned the reigning champs via pinfall in just 8:24. You have to admire the determination of these two legends – they're not done yet!
Now, onto the main event! The WWE Title Triple Threat match pitted Chris Benoit and Chris Jericho against the incumbent champion Steve Austin. What an absolute thrill ride this was! All three men gave it their all in a 27:50 marathon, with Austin ultimately retaining his title via pinfall on Jericho. You can't help but feel for these two talented wrestlers – they truly earned our respect.
In other action, Jeff Hardy successfully defended his WWF Light Heavyweight Title against X-Pac, securing the win via pinfall in 7:10. And in a Street Fight that will be talked about for ages to come, Kurt Angle took on Shane McMahon in an epic battle that lasted an astonishing 25:58. In the end, Angle emerged victorious, leaving many wondering what this means for his future plans.
That's all from East Rutherford, folks! King Of The Ring 2001 was a night to remember – with some thrilling upsets and truly unforgettable matches. Until next time, keep it locked to zohash.com for all your WWE news and updates!
