WWF Report: Worcester Centrum, December 29th, 1998
A sold-out crowd of 10,668 at the Worcester Centrum witnessed an action-packed night of professional wrestling as World Wrestling Entertainment (WWF) brought its brand of excitement to Massachusetts.
The evening kicked off with a quick and decisive victory for Steve Blackman over Ken Shamrock in a non-title match. Blackman's experience and skill proved too much for Shamrock, who was unable to mount any significant offense before being submitted in just 3 minutes and 26 seconds.
Next up, the big man Mark Henry used his size and strength to overpower Goldust in a singles match. Despite Goldust's best efforts to use his agility and quickness to evade Henry's attacks, he was ultimately no match for the powerful giant, who scored the win in just 3 minutes and 44 seconds.
Test made his presence felt next, as he clashed with The Godfather in a singles match. This one turned into a wild affair, with both men trading blows and showing off their strength. However, things took a turn for the worse when Test's aggression got the better of him, leading to a double disqualification just 1 minute and 59 seconds into the match.
The main event segment of the evening was set in motion when Triple H faced Mankind in a singles match with special referee Shane McMahon watching over. This one was an intense and physical affair, with both men giving it their all. In the end, however, Triple H's cunning and experience proved too much for the hard-hitting Mankind, who fell victim to the Pedigree and a subsequent pin at 2 minutes and 57 seconds.
The match that followed between D-Lo Brown and Edge was shaping up to be an exciting one, with both men showing off their aerial abilities. Unfortunately, things took a turn when the two men began to brawl outside of the ring, leading to a no contest decision just 4 minutes and 57 seconds into the match.
The action continued as Gerald Brisco and Pat Patterson put their collective experience on the line against Kane in a two-on-one handicap match. This one was an absolute war, with all three men showing off their strength and power. In the end, however, Kane's sheer dominance proved too much for the duo, who were ultimately unable to overcome the giant's might.
The WWF Hardcore Championship was on the line next as Road Dogg looked to retain against Al Snow. This one was a wild and crazy affair, with both men using every trick in the book to try and gain an advantage. In the end, however, Road Dogg's cunning and experience proved too much for Snow, who fell victim to a pin at 8 minutes and 38 seconds.
The main event of the evening saw Mankind take on The Rock for the WWF Championship in a no disqualification match. This one was an absolute war, with both men giving it their all and showing off their incredible strength and agility. In the end, however, Mankind's determination and refusal to give up proved too much for the champion, who fell victim to a pin at the bottom of the steel cage at approximately 15 minutes into the match.
Overall, this was an excellent night of professional wrestling, with each match featuring its own unique blend of action and drama. The WWF faithful in attendance at the Worcester Centrum were treated to an evening they will never forget.
