Soul of the Squared Circle: A Report from the Greensboro Coliseum Complex
November 18th, 2001 will be remembered as a night that left an indelible mark on the world of professional wrestling. The WWE's Survivor Series Pay-Per-View extravaganza brought together some of the greatest talents in the sport for a battle royale for the ages.
The evening began with Christian defending his WWE European Title against Al Snow. In a match marked by its technicality and finesse, Christian showcased his trademark quickness and agility to emerge victorious in 6:30 minutes.
Next up was William Regal, looking to continue his winning streak against Tajiri. The veteran grappler's cunning and experience proved too much for the high-flying Japanese sensation, as he secured the win in a mere 2:59 minutes.
The Intercontinental Title Unification Match between Edge and Test saw Edge emerge victorious, but not before both competitors gave it their all in an entertaining contest that tested each man's limits.
Now, onto the main event. The WWF World Tag Team Title Unification Steel Cage Match pitted the Dudley Boyz against the Hardy Boyz, with the stakes as high as they were physical. In a thrilling and brutal encounter, the Duds' sheer strength and experience paid off, leaving the Hardys reeling in defeat.
But the real showstopper was the One Year Immunity Battle Royal, featuring 20 of the WWE's top talents vying for survival. In a match that defied logic and reason, Test emerged as the unlikely winner, dodging elimination and outmaneuvering his opponents to claim victory in an astonishing 7:37 minutes.
The Women's Title Six Pack Challenge saw Trish Stratus rise above the fray, outlasting Ivory, Jacqueline, Jazz, Lita, and Mighty Molly en route to claiming the vacant championship.
And finally, the evening culminated in a true spectacle – the Team WWF vs. Team Alliance Winner Takes All Survivor Series Elimination Match. In an event that spanned nearly 45 minutes, Chris Jericho, Kane, The Big Show, The Rock, and The Undertaker emerged victorious against Booker T, Kurt Angle, Rob Van Dam, Shane McMahon, and Steve Austin.
In the end, it was a night that will be remembered for its sheer chaos, excitement, and unpredictability. The WWE has once again proven why they are the premier professional wrestling promotion in the world.
