Blackjack Mulligan
Blackjack Mulligan was a behemoth of a man, standing at an imposing 6'6" and weighing in at a whopping 345 pounds. His massive frame was only matched by his equally impressive personality, a true Texan through and through. Born on November 25th, 1942, in Sweetwater, Texas, Mulligan's path to professional wrestling was paved by his love for football.
Mulligan's early days in the ring were marked by a rugged, no-nonsense style that earned him the nickname "Big Machine." As he honed his craft, he began to develop a signature move that would become synonymous with his name: the clawhold. A devastating hold that left opponents reeling, it was a testament to Mulligan's raw power and unyielding determination.
Throughout his illustrious career, Mulligan worked for various promotions, including World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW), World Championship Wrestling (WCW), All Japan Pro Wrestling (AJPW), and the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA). His impressive résumé boasted a plethora of titles, including the IWA Puerto Rico Tag Team Championship, NWA World Tag Team Championship, NWA United States Heavyweight Championship, FCL Championship, and IWA World Tag Team Championship.
Despite his imposing physique, Mulligan was a true student of the game. He spent years perfecting his craft, refining his moveset, and developing a keen sense of strategy. This dedication paid dividends, as he earned the respect and admiration of his peers and fans alike.
As the years went by, Mulligan's reputation only grew. He became known for his unyielding ferocity in the ring, his unwavering commitment to his craft, and his larger-than-life personality outside of it. When he finally hung up his boots on May 23rd, 1993, after a storied career spanning over two decades, the wrestling world was left feeling a little smaller without him.
Sadly, Blackjack Mulligan's life came to an abrupt end on April 7th, 2016, due to heart failure. Though he may be gone, his legacy lives on in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to share the ring with him or witness his greatness firsthand. In a world where giants like Mulligan are few and far between, we can only hope that future generations will strive to emulate his unwavering passion, unrelenting drive, and unstoppable force.
