Kyoko Inoue
The Unlikely Queen
Kyoko Inoue is not your typical wrestling superstar. She's not a bombshell blonde with a penchant for body slams and top-rope splashes. And she's certainly not from the United States, where professional wrestling is an institution.
No, Kyoko Inoue is a Japanese phenom who defies expectations at every turn. Standing at 5'5" and weighing in at a whopping 220 pounds, she's a force to be reckoned with in the ring. And yet, despite her imposing physique, she's not just about brute strength – she's a technician, a grappler with a deep understanding of the art of wrestling.
Born in Nanyo, Yamagata, Japan in 1969, Inoue began her wrestling career in the early 1990s. And it wasn't long before she caught on with World Woman Pro-Wrestling Diana, where she would go on to win multiple championships, including the coveted World Championship.
But what really sets Inoue apart is her versatility. She's just as comfortable working singles matches as she is teaming up with a partner in tag-team action. And when she gets going, watch out – her Niagara Driver and Spidernest STF moves are devastatingly effective.
Over the years, Inoue has worked for some of the biggest promotions in Japan, including World Wrestling Entertainment, New Japan Pro Wrestling, and Pro Wrestling NOAH. And while she's certainly had her share of highs and lows, one thing is clear: Kyoko Inoue is a true pioneer in the world of women's professional wrestling.
So if you ever find yourself in the midst of a Japanese wrestling promotion, do yourself a favor – seek out Kyoko Inoue and watch her work. You won't be disappointed.
