Lucha Libre Extravaganza: CMLL's Pay-Per-View Spectacle
Mexico City, Distrito Federal, Mexico - Arena Mexico played host to one of the most electric pay-per-view events in recent memory as Consejo Mundial De Lucha Libre (CMLL) presented a star-studded lineup that left fans on the edge of their seats. The event, broadcast live on July 14th, showcased some of the best luchadores in the world, and this writer was honored to bear witness to the action.
Match One: A Six-Man Tag Team Thrill Ride
The evening's proceedings kicked off with a Best Two Out Of Three Falls Six Man Tag Team Match featuring an unlikely quartet: Bracito de Oro, Pequeno Olimpico, and Ultimo Dragoncito taking on Fire, Guerrerito del Futuro, and Sombrita. In what proved to be a wild ride from start to finish, the babyfaces emerged victorious, with Dragoncito securing the decisive second fall victory.
Dr. X and Co. Dominate Trio Fantasia
Next up was another six-man tag team bout pitting Dr. X, Nitro, and Virus against the colorful trio of Super Muneco, Super Pinocho, and Super Raton. The heels' technical prowess proved too much for their opponents, as Dr. X's cunning tactics led his team to a convincing win.
Averno and Friends Best El Hijo de Anibal and Co.
The third match saw Averno, Black Tiger, and Juventud Guerrera face off against the unlikely trio of El Hijo de Anibal, El Hombre Sin Nombre, and Felino. Averno's cunning and his partners' aerial attacks proved too much for their opponents, securing a dominant victory.
Los Guerreros del Infierno Fall to Brazo de Plata and Co.
In what was expected to be a grudge match, Brazo de Plata, Mascara Sagrada, and Tinieblas took on the hated Los Guerreros del Infierno. Despite the underdogs' best efforts, the faces emerged triumphant, with Brazo de Plata securing the decisive second fall victory.
Main Event: Los Boricuas vs. Mr. Mexico and Poder Mexica
The evening's main event pitted two high-flying teams against each other as Los Boricuas (Veneno and Violencia) faced off against Mr. Mexico and Poder Mexica in a Mask & Hair Vs. Mask & Hair Best Two Out Of Three Falls Match. A thrilling contest that saw both teams trading near falls, ultimately ended with the babyfaces emerging victorious, sending their opponents' masks flying into the audience.
