WRESTLING WRAPUP
September 13th, Winston-Salem, North Carolina - Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum
A night to remember in the world of professional wrestling! WCW's "Fall Brawl" Pay-Per-View event delivered an action-packed card that will be etched in the memories of fans for a long time. Here's my take on the matches:
Match 1: Jim Neidhart and The British Bulldog vs. Alex Wright and Disco Inferno
The opener was a tag team match featuring four experienced competitors. The veteran duo of Neidhart and The British Bulldog proved too strong, as they outmaneuvered their opponents to secure the victory in 11 minutes and 3 seconds.
Match 2: Chris Jericho vs. Goldberg (WCW World Television Title)
What a stunning upset! Chris Jericho, known for his aerial attacks, managed to put away the formidable Goldberg with a vicious sit-out suplex, winning the WCW World Television Championship in just 1 minute and 15 seconds.
Match 3: The Cat vs. Norman Smiley
A battle of contrasts played out as high-flying The Cat faced the technical Norman Smiley. In the end, The Cat's agility allowed him to secure a quick pinfall victory in 5 minutes and 4 seconds.
Match 4: Rick Steiner vs. Scott Steiner
The Steiner Brothers' sibling rivalry was on full display here. Unfortunately, their match ended in a no-contest after both men became too evenly matched, resulting in a stalemate at the 5-minute and 30-second mark.
Match 5: Juventud Guerrera (c) vs. Silver King (WCW World Cruiserweight Title)
The WCW World Cruiserweight Championship was on the line here, and Juventud Guerrera successfully defended his title against the formidable Silver King in a thrilling match that lasted 8 minutes and 36 seconds.
Match 6: Perry Saturn vs. Raven
In a hard-hitting affair, Perry Saturn outmaneuvered Raven to emerge victorious in their "Raven's Rules" match, which concluded at the 14-minute and 4-second mark.
Match 7: Dean Malenko vs. Curt Hennig
A battle of wits and strength saw Dean Malenko outlast Curt Hennig, securing a win in 7 minutes and 38 seconds.
Match 8: Konnan vs. Scott Hall
In an intense match-up, Konnan proved too much for Scott Hall, pinning him to the mat after a series of high-impact moves, finishing their bout in 12 minutes and 3 seconds.
Main Event: Three Way Nine Man Tag Team War Games Match
The evening's main event was an unforgettable spectacle. The Diamond Dallas Page-led trio (DDP, Roddy Piper, and The Warrior) faced off against the nWo Hollywood (Bret Hart, Hollywood Hogan, and Stevie Ray) and the nWo Wolfpac (Kevin Nash, Lex Luger, and Sting). In a thrilling War Games match that lasted an impressive 20 minutes and 6 seconds, the DDP-led team emerged victorious.
Overall, "Fall Brawl" was an event for the ages, with plenty of surprises, exciting matches, and memorable moments. WCW has certainly set the bar high for their upcoming events.
